- Position
Summary: The Assistant Manager works with the Manager and is responsible for ensuring that guests are offered an enjoyable meal reflecting the high customer service standards.
They ensure guests are seated and served according to department and company service standards.
The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring that all details of service are performed properly and every guest receives the highest quality of service.
They must maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward guests, other employees, and management staff.
- Job Duties
- Assist with hiring, training and supervising restaurant staff including food servers, bus persons and host persons.
- Schedules and ensures the appropriate staff is available to provide the highest level of customer service based on guest volume.
- Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all departments interacting with the restaurant.
- Ensure that all food and beverage items served are prepared and presented accurately and to the highest determined quality standards.
- Evaluate employee performance on a regular basis and provide positive feedback to employees and take corrective action when necessary.
- Observe daily conditions of all physical facilities and equipment in the restaurant and make recommendations for improvements and maintenance as needed.
- Ensure that cash charge and credit card transactions are handled accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Recognize and notify the appropriate personnel of any problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior.
- Notify management of unsafe conditions, maintenance of tables, chairs, carpet and/or equipment and any accidents.
- Follow all procedures when responding to any hotel emergency or safety situation.

- Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations
- Possess current health department certifications required to work in a restaurant.
- 1+ years food and beverage supervisory experience preferably in a restaurant or hotel/resort environment.
- Experience developing and conducting employee training.
- Skilled in development of employee motivational programs, performance evaluation and discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
Compensation
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon but not limited to relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector and geographic location.
