IRS recruitment is currently seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Pre‑Heat Technician to join our client’s team on an ongoing basis in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying controlled heat to metal components, including plate and pipe, in preparation for welding and fabrication processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply pre‑heating techniques to metal components (plate and pipe) using appropriate heating equipment.
- Monitor and control temperatures in line with specified procedures and job requirements.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Work closely with trade teams to meet production requirements.
- Maintain equipment and report any faults or issues promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in pre‑heating, heat treatment, or a similar role within a fabrication or engineering environment.
- Knowledge of heating processes for plate and pipe materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Aware of health and safety practices in an industrial setting.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Pay Rates
- Dayshift £14.50 per hour for the first 38 hours worked (Monday to Friday).
- £18.85 per hour in excess of 38 hours worked and approved.
- £21.75 per hour for all Saturday hours worked and approved.
- £29.00 per hour for all Sunday hours worked and approved.
