We are looking for a seasoned Dual Registered Manager to work with Children & Young People in LD provisions based in Swadlincote. You will be the legally Registered Manager with Ofsted, providing inspirational leadership and strategic oversight for the Company. You will hold primary accountability for ensuring the home not only meets but exceeds the statutory requirements of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
Leading a specialised 3-bed provision for children with Learning Disabilities, you will embed a high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred culture. You will ensure that care is individualised, providing 1:1 and 2:1 adult ratios to provide a safe, stable, and sensory-aware environment. Your purpose is to act as an advocate and 'Corporate Parent' for our children, ensuring that despite their communication or cognitive barriers, they are empowered to express their wishes, develop life skills through the AQA Unit Award Scheme, and achieve their full potential in a 'forever home' setting.
Key task areas and responsibilities:
- To meet the requirements of the Registration and Placing Authority.
- To ensure that the Home always meets the regulations set by the Regulatory Body.
- To deliver services in line with the Children’s Home Regulations including quality standards and Ofsted Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF) and company policies.
- To safeguard all Children and Young People in the Home and to ensure good safeguarding procedures and principles detailed by your local safeguarding board are always in place and applied consistently, and reviewed regularly.
- Work with the team to ensure that referrals and applications are made as and when necessary and within the set time frames e.g. Safeguarding, Deprivation of Liberty.
- To complete the process of assessment for referrals for the home, and ensure they met the homes SOP.
- Ensure that all the relevant pathway/placement plans for Children and Young People are in place, accurate, up to date and are adhered to by staff.
- Support Key Worker Responsibilities for Children and Young People.
- To ensure effective and timely contact and communication with the appropriate external agencies and Children and Young People's relatives, advocates and others.
- Within a multidisciplinary team, monitor the progress of all Children and Young People’s pathway/placement plans, offering advice, support and consultation.
- Undertake regular reviews of the service provided to Children and Young People, involve relevant external agencies and take steps to represent the Children and Young People's interests.
- Act on and/or delegate actions or recommendations from any reviews and ensure that all outcomes are completed.
- Provide direct care and supervision, as required, to Children and Young People in the Home, including providing occasional cover for staff absence as necessary.
- Oversee and ensure that all staff effectively manage challenging behaviour, in line with their individual plans.
- Maintain effective daily contact with internal and external professionals.
- Work effectively and positively with relatives, advocates and others involved with Children and Young People.
- Direct and coordinate the care and support of each Child and Young Person to ensure that their targets are met.
- Take responsibility for coordinating risk assessments and ensuring they are reviewed and updated.
- Monitor and ensure that all Children and Young People’s financial transactions are recorded and administered following individual placement agreements, and Company and Regulatory Body policies and procedures.
- Ensure awareness and implementation of appropriate practical application of the Mental Capacity Act including the Deprivation of Liberty.
- Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team which encompasses education, residential and clinical services relevant to the Home.
- Ensure the physical environment is 'Sensory-Safe.'
- Ensure that all training needs are met in line with the homes SOP and this is reviewed regularly to ensure the children’s needs are consistently met in line with their needs.
- Ensure regular audits and reviews on the care and support provided, and keep up to date records.
- To complete KPI’s and report to the Responsible Individual.
- To track trends and behaviours, relating to children’s needs and triggers.
- To use research to inform practice (specific to children with LD needs) and embed this into the home.
