The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We are looking to invest in an enthusiastic and committed team player to play an active role in maintaining high standards of care within the practice. The role comprises 4 sessions per week on a fixed rota basis on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday all day and Friday afternoons, with extra sessions on occasions as required by the practice for absence cover or additional need. The successful candidate will also provide extended access appointments on a Saturday morning at least once per month.

Main duties of the job include:

  • A mixture of face-to-face, telephone, video and online appointments, duty and routine sessions, home visits and admin work.
  • Managing a caseload and dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients.
  • Providing counselling and health education.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines.
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit.
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting.
  • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies.

Confidentiality is paramount; the post-holder may have access to sensitive information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers.

Health & safety responsibilities include implementing and leading on a full range of promotion and management of health and safety and infection control.

The post-holder will support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues.

Quality maintenance within the practice is essential, including alerting team members to issues of quality and risk.

Effective communication with team members, patients and carers is crucial.

Experience required includes:

  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen actively to patients in a non-judgemental manner.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with clinical IT systems.

Qualifications include being a fully qualified GP eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS, holding an MBBS or equivalent medical degree, and having a clear DBS report.

Personal attributes should demonstrate awareness of the importance of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, sensitivity and empathy in difficult situations, and a commitment to continuing education and professional development.
