Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and experienced Director, EMEA Design to join our Data Centre team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design delivery of new construction, customer fit-outs, and phased expansions across the EMEA Iron Mountain Data Centers portfolio. You will lead regional Design Managers to provide technical leadership from site evaluation through construction support and handover to operations. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, resilient, and scalable data center solutions that balance global standardization with local market requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and oversee design delivery for data centre projects across EMEA, managing the full lifecycle from early site consideration and concept design through permitting, procurement, and handover to operations.
- Direct regional Design Managers and third-party architectural, engineering, and specialist consultant teams to ensure projects align with Iron Mountain standards, customer requirements, and regulatory codes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders—including real estate, sales, construction, and sustainability teams—to support site acquisitions, master planning, and pre-lease customer engagement activity.
- Drive design innovation and compliance by implementing standardized, repeatable solutions and continuous improvement of regional design standards and technical specifications.
What You’ll Bring
- Significant experience in the design and delivery of data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects, with a proven track record of managing multiple regional design teams.
- In-depth technical knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, life safety, and building systems associated with critical facilities.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance technical excellence with cost, program schedule, and operational performance.
- University degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a relevant discipline; professional accreditation (Chartered Engineer, Registered Architect, or equivalent) is preferred.
