The Stock and Systems FLM is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy and system integrity across the retail distribution centre. This role oversees stock control, inbound discrepancy management, audit, and warehouse and stock administration. The position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory records, minimising losses, and ensuring efficient stock flow from suppliers through the DC to stores.
Key Responsibilities:- Inventory Control and Accuracy
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy between physical inventory and WMS/ERP systems
- Oversee all stock movements, including receiving, put-away, transfers, and dispatch
- Review and authorise stock adjustments, ensuring full audit trails and compliance
- Monitor KPIs related to stock accuracy, availability, and variances
- Audits & Compliance
- Lead cycle count programs within the distribution centre
- Investigate discrepancies and perform root cause analysis
- Implement corrective actions to prevent recurring stock issues
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit standards, and operational procedures
- Inbound Discrepancy Management
- Manage and resolve inbound delivery discrepancies (shortages, overages, damages)
- Ensure discrepancies are logged, tracked, and resolved within defined SLAs
- Maintain accurate system updates following investigations
- Warehouse Operations Support
- Partner with warehouse operations to ensure accurate stock handling and system transactions
- Support goods-in, picking, and dispatch processes with a focus on stock integrity
- Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Systems & Data Management
- Own and maintain WMS/BlueYonder inventory data integrity
- Act as the key point of contact for system-related stock issues and enhancements
- Develop and deliver reporting on stock accuracy, adjustments, and discrepancy trends
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and process changes
- Team Leadership
- Lead and develop stock controllers and warehouse stock administration teams
- Set clear performance objectives and accountability for stock accuracy
- Deliver training on systems, processes, and audit requirements
- Promote a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Proven experience in stock control or inventory management within a retail distribution centre
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) BlueYonder
- Experience managing audits, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolution
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy
- Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in high-volume, retail distribution
- Knowledge of inbound logistics and supplier compliance processes
- Advanced Excel or data analysis skills
- Lean / continuous improvement experience (e.g., Six Sigma)
