Iron Mountain Data Centres is seeking a skilled and motivated Design Manager to join our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Design and Construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end design delivery of data centre construction projects, including new builds, phased expansions, and operational upgrades. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with external consultants to ensure our facilities meet world-class standards while identifying critical risks and opportunities.

Our Design and Construction team is a collaborative, multidisciplinary group of experts dedicated to delivering high-performance infrastructure across key European markets like London, Amsterdam, Madrid, and Frankfurt.

What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities)

  • Lead and direct third-party design consultants to deliver mission-critical data centre projects that strictly adhere to Iron Mountain global standards and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal construction, finance, sales, and operations teams to validate and execute fit-out programs, ensuring design decisions align with business pursuit opportunities.
  • Provide comprehensive engineering oversight and reporting on budget, schedule, and product delivery to ensure all assigned critical infrastructure projects meet organisational quality and safety regulations.

What You'll Bring (Skills & Education)

  • Extensive experience in the design of mission-critical facilities, specifically within Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) led industries such as Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, or Energy.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, life safety, and control systems, including a strong command of national and local building codes.
  • Proven ability in managing relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders while leading multidisciplinary design teams in a professional, fast-paced environment.
  • A University Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Building Services Engineering, with the flexibility to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
