Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled, motivated Mobile HGV Repair Engineer to join our Fleet Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for traveling to broken-down vehicles and repairing them onsite, managing your own day on the move to keep our specialist fleet of collection and shredding vehicles safe, compliant, and operational. You will join a dedicated, highly mobile Fleet Maintenance team focused on ensuring operational continuity and the highest safety standards across our specialised commercial vehicle network.
What You’ll Do
- Onsite Breakdown Repairs: Travel directly to broken-down vehicles in the field to perform immediate mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs onsite.
- Mobile Fleet Maintenance: Conduct routine mobile HGV repairs, safety inspections, and PMIs remotely from a service van.
- Diagnostic & Fault Finding: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, pneumatic, and 12v/24v electrical faults on location to quickly determine the root cause of failures.
- Specialist Equipment Repairs: Maintain and service vehicle‑mounted shredding equipment, PTO systems, and heavy hydraulics at operational sites.
- Compliance & MOT Preparation: Ensure all onsite repairs meet DVSA MOT requirements while keeping precise digital logs.
What You’ll Bring
- A proven track record of experience as an HGV Technician, Mechanic, or Field Service Engineer with experience working independently roadside.
- Strong knowledge of heavy mechanical systems, air brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and auto‑electrics. An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is preferred.
- A valid HGV licence is essential (Class 1 or Class 2 Category C licence is a significant advantage).
- A proactive problem‑solving mindset with the resilience to work in varied outdoor environments and the ability to pass standard background and security checks.
