As a Fine Art Case Maker & Driver, you will play a dual role in the protection and movement of world-class art. You will be responsible for crafting bespoke protective cases for valuable paintings, sculptures, and other fine artworks, while also serving as a professional driver to ensure these cases reach their destinations safely. Your keen attention to detail and commitment to quality will ensure that each case is tailored to the specific requirements of the artwork, providing secure housing and professional transit for every piece. This role will be based in Leyton, East London E10.

Responsibilities
  • Create custom cases and packaging for fine art pieces, including paintings, sculptures, and other delicate objects.
  • Utilise a range of materials, including wood, foam, and fabric, to construct cases that provide adequate protection and support for the artwork.
  • Use hand and power tools to shape and fit materials, and employ traditional techniques to create high-quality finishes.
  • Safely load, secure, and transport fine art cases to various galleries, institutions, and private collections.
  • Operate company vehicles in a professional and safe manner, ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed on schedule.
  • Ensure that each case meets industry standards for durability, weight, and size, and is suitable for transportation and storage.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and time spent on each project.
  • Keep up to date with new materials, techniques, and industry standards, and continually improve skills and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, including case makers, art technicians and drivers to ensure that each piece is handled with care and attention to detail.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in fine art case making, woodworking or carpentry, or another related field.
  • UK Drivers Licence is essential.
  • Demonstrated interest in fine art and willingness to learn about the design and construction of custom cases for a range of fine art pieces, including paintings, sculptures, and other delicate objects.
  • Proficiency in using a range of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, sanders, and routers.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
