Overview

Location: London, UK — hybrid role. Project locations: UK, Netherlands, Germany. Permanent, full-time role. Primary purpose: Data Center Design & Construction Project Manager responsible for delivering data center design and construction solutions for new and existing clients. Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, Engineers and Contractors to transform data centers into efficient, revenue-generating assets. Lead the full lifecycle delivery of data center refresh projects for aging facilities across multiple jurisdictions, with the goal of extending facility life and ensuring compliance with local regulations, international standards, and IMDC objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multidisciplinary teams across site assessments, permitting, MEP, architectural, structural and civil disciplines
  • Oversee design development, planning approvals, and permitting across UK and EU jurisdictions
  • Lead procurement and contract administration under JCT, NEC, and FIDIC frameworks
  • Drive project controls: budget, schedule, risk, and quality using tools like Procore
  • Ensure compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (UK), Eurocodes, and local building regulations
  • Coordinate commissioning activities including integrated systems testing
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (e.g., IMDC operations) to align technical, safety, scope and delivery protocols
  • Maintain project documentation: risk registers, change logs, technical submittals, RFI trackers
  • Facilitate closeout and facility activation

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management, or UK equivalent (e.g., Level 5 or 6)
  • Experience: 5–10 years in relevant sectors (e.g., mission-critical MEP, data centers, high-tech labs); project experience in a live operating environment is valued
  • Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent preferred
  • Software: Procore, Bluebeam
  • Technical: Understanding of MEP systems, UPS, chillers, BMS, fire protection; familiarity with BIM and sustainability frameworks (e.g., BREEAM)
  • Contract/Regulatory: Familiar with NEC, JCT, FIDIC; UK CDM and Building Regulations
  • Scheduling/Cost: Familiar with CPM schedules and construction cost estimating
  • Cross-functional collaboration; ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Self-motivated with initiative to manage projects independently; strong communication and time-management skills
  • Regional experience: UK or EU jurisdictions; multilingual communication skills preferred
  • Preferred attributes: Experience with hyperscale, colocation and retail data centers; strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Location & Travel: Based in the UK with occasional travel to EMEA sites; hybrid/work arrangements depend on project phase
