Responsibilities
- Ensure operational readiness, safety, and compliance of our specialised fleet of collection and shredding vehicles.
- Execute routine servicing, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance, including pre‑inspection preparations for annual DVSA/MOT testing on HGVs and LGVs.
- Service, repair, and optimise onboard heavy‑duty shredding machinery, hydraulic systems, and automated loading mechanisms.
- Utilise advanced diagnostic software to identify and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro‑electrical faults across truck chassis and shredding control panels.
- Maintain meticulous service records, defect sheets, and inventory logs while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Provide rapid breakdown support to minimise client delays and safely return drivers to their routes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working on commercial trucks (HGVs and LGVs) within a fast‑paced workshop environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy hydraulics, pneumatics, auto‑electrics, and mechanical fault diagnosis.
- National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Valid United Kingdom driving licence, with an HGV/Class 2 licence highly preferred.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities, a proactive approach to vehicle safety, and basic welding or fabrication skills (preferred).
- Ability to successfully pass a standard background and security screening required for handling secure assets.
