Vickerstock are partnering with a specialist manufacturing business to appoint a Procurement Manager. This is a key leadership position, offering the opportunity to take full ownership of the end-to-end supply chain function while playing a central role in driving operational performance and long-term strategy. This role will suit an experienced supply chain professional with a mixture of strategic thinking and a data-driven approach.

Package: £55,000 + Pension Contribution, 4-day week, Private Medical, Life assurance.

Overview

Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the supply chain strategy across the organisation. You will lead an established purchasing function while actively engaging with a global supplier base, ensuring performance, cost-efficiency, and resilience across the supply chain. This is a highly visible role within the business, offering genuine scope to influence decision-making, improve processes, and contribute to continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end supply chain function, ensuring alignment with wider operational and business objectives.
  • Drive ongoing improvement initiatives across procurement, planning, inventory management, and logistics to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure the MRP system is effectively managed, optimised, and developed to support accurate planning and decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain robust vendor scheduling processes to support production continuity and supplier performance.
  • Develop and manage a high-performing global supplier base, strengthening relationships while driving cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
  • Lead the negotiation, implementation, and ongoing management of supplier contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities, ensuring MPV targets are consistently achieved.
  • Oversee the annual standard cost review process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business strategy.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key supply chain KPIs, including inventory turns, forecast accuracy, OTIF, and cost-to-serve, using insights to inform decision-making.
  • Chair weekly planning meetings, providing clear direction and actionable insight to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Essential Experience

  • 4 years' experience in a senior procurement position (suitable for Category Managers/Procurement Managers).
  • Demonstrable success in developing and implementing procurement strategies and supplier contracts.
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively at a senior level within complex supply chains.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within electronic/electrical manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and supply chain planning tools.
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards).
