Vickerstock are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer for our client based in the Omagh area. The Senior ME will be responsible for reviewing processes and procedures across the organisation with the purpose to refine and improve the levels of efficiency and performance. You will have the responsibility of end-to-end change management including ensuring that our people will successfully change their current ways of working to achieve the optimum performance.

As this is a Senior role, you will need to utilise different change management and continuous improvement tools, encourage and empower people, mentor and coach people to ensure the improvements are embedded as part of our clients culture.

Your new role as a Manufacturing Engineer includes:

  • Conducting an assessment of the current processes, what they could become and the gap analysis across the business which identifies opportunities for process improvement, automation/robotics, waste removal and cost reduction.
  • Making timely, effective decisions, at a level appropriate to the role, using all of the information available, seeking advice as necessary, and using initiative to diagnose and overcome operating problems.
  • Identifying the changes in processes and procedures that are needed to deliver the identified improvements.
  • Defining the objectives and scope of the improvement plan and establishing a clear implementation plan.
  • Introducing and driving continuous improvement to processes and procedures across the business using various business improvement techniques.
  • Leading the measurement and analysis of the changes and improvements and creating KPIs or performance standards for the improved processes.
  • Successfully managing and delivering the changes by engaging and empowering our staff to think differently about what they do, how they do it and how to change it for the better.
  • Fostering the culture of continuous improvements/lean across the business including communication plans, identifying and effectively managing the barriers to change and maximising the engagement and ownership across the business.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects across the business including the senior management team.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and mentoring around continuous improvement to all levels within the organisation and designing and delivering the training materials to upskill the staff.

What you will need to succeed as a Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering degree.
  • HND, BTEC Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications will be considered where proven vocational specialist experience can be demonstrated.
  • Continuous Improvement qualifications such as value stream mapping, lean six sigma green, or black belt.
  • Membership of an industry related professional body (desirable).
