The Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established and high-growth group operating across the island of Ireland. With a strong regional presence, a multi-entity group structure, and an ambitious growth strategy underpinned by recent acquisitions, this is an exciting time to be joining the business. The group is now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function. This is a genuinely broad and commercially relevant role - one that goes well beyond month-end reporting and offers real exposure to business planning, acquisitions, integrations, and contributing to strategic decision-making at group level.

The Role

Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Financial Controller will take day-to-day ownership of the group's finance operations, supported by a small finance team. Responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership of month-end close across the group, including consolidated reporting
  • Management of payroll across multiple entities
  • Overseeing credit control and maintaining robust debtor management
  • Lease accounting and management in line with current standards
  • Ensuring full compliance across the group's multi-jurisdiction activities
  • Preparation and management of cashflow forecasting and treasury
  • Business planning support, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Development and maintenance of KPI frameworks and management information
  • Building and maintaining Power BI dashboards to support data-driven decision-making
  • Financial modelling and due diligence support for acquisitions and integration projects

The Person

The successful candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a hands-on financial controller or senior finance manager position. You will be comfortable being the primary finance lead within a growing, owner-managed business and able to operate effectively across both operational and strategic finance. We are looking for someone who brings:

  • A track record in a broad, hands-on financial controller or FC-equivalent role
  • Strong technical accounting skills and comfort working across multiple entities
  • Confidence with financial systems and data tools - Power BI experience particularly welcome
  • Experience of, or exposure to, acquisition activity, integration, or group consolidation
  • Cross-border (UK/ROI) finance experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • The interpersonal skills to work closely with senior stakeholders and a small finance team
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach - someone who adds value beyond the numbers
  • An interest in progressing to Finance Director level with mentorship from a Fractional CFO

The Business

The group has grown significantly in recent years through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisition, and continues to invest in its people, technology, and operational infrastructure. The business operates across multiple office locations and employs over 100 staff. It is well funded, financially stable, and positioned to deliver its next phase of growth. The successful candidate will join at a pivotal moment and have the opportunity to shape the finance function as the group continues to scale.
