We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative R&D Engineer to join our client based in Newtownabbey. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving products through rigorous research, design, and testing.

The ideal applicant will possess strong analytical skills, a solid foundation in systems engineering, and experience with various design and simulation software.

Duties

  • Working individually and as part of a team to develop component and product designs & functionality, including conceptual sketches, CAD models, drawings and material selection.
  • Support quality / functional testing of development solutions, analyse results, draw conclusions and report recommendations. This includes the evaluation of materials, prototypes and components, both by simulation and physical hands-on testing.
  • Making samples or working models by hand, produce rapid prototypes, and managing the external manufacture of prototype components and tooling.
  • Support Operations with their sourcing, commissioning and development of production equipment, and ongoing continuous improvement projects through process optimisation and component design for manufacture.

Essential

  • Mechanical, Manufacturing or Design Engineering (or relevant equivalent) 3rd Level Education
  • Competent in the use of 3D & 2D CAD
  • Minimum 2 years industrial experience in an R&D or Product Design role.
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis tools is beneficial but not essential.
  • Competent sketching ability, able to express construction of products with ease.
  • Knowledge of plastics and polymer processing techniques, particularly injection moulding.
