Jenn Dinan at Wallace Myers is recruiting a MS&T Site Lead for a permanent role based in Newry Co. Down. We are a specialist veterinary pharmaceuticals products business. Our expertise is in the development, manufacture, sales and marketing of high-quality products exclusively for veterinarians worldwide.

As a member of the Site leadership team, the role holder will be accountable for managing the Manufacturing, Science & Technology (MS&T) function to deliver its objectives around People, Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost in alignment with MS&T strategy. As part of the Site Leadership Team, the role holder will contribute to the development, design and execution of site strategy that delivers a best-in-class performance and be responsible for delivering requirements that support company objectives.

The position ensures all materials, products and equipment are designed, installed, validated & functioning to an exemplary level based on the standards set forth by the management team to ensure our existing and new products can be routinely & reliably produced, right first time to all standards.

Main Activities/Tasks:

  • Lead Manufacturing Science and Technology function at site level in close collaboration with Operations Site Lead.
  • Lead and manage OOS product and process investigations, product remediation programs, product and process trending and process capability reviews.
  • Single point of contact for MS&T for all activities including: Product Remediation, OOS Product & Process Investigations, Product Tech Transfers, New Product Introduction, Product & Process Improvements.
  • Lead execution of commercialisation projects including lifecycle management and continuous improvements by identifying potential process / facility and / or equipment improvements for existing products.
  • Manage identification of capital requirements to support future capability of site to support future demands and requirements in terms of New Product Introduction (NPI), Existing Product Development (EPD) and any Technology Transfer (TT).
  • Lead activities for successful transfer of new equipment to production, including development of training plan and standard operating procedures at site level in conjunction with Operations.
  • Provide prioritisation to execute all remediation work.
  • Assist in new technology evaluation by interfacing with the Engineering & Operations.
  • Support implementation of cross company initiatives at site level including but not limited to technology transfer, product lifecycle approach, continuous improvements etc.
  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot formulation and process type issues of products manufactured internally to improve product quality and to minimize product supply interruptions.
  • The role is also responsible for Project Management / execution of assigned projects (short duration), which includes the management of internal company resources (assets financial and personnel), and vendors as part of the execution of projects.
  • Embeds best practice project management methods & tools, anticipating contingencies & ensuring risks are managed cross functionally in all NPI, EPD and TT projects.
  • Improves interfaces between R&D, Product Development, Regulatory and other functions from idea to launch.
  • Leads others to carry out option assessment, risk identification & design optimisation.
  • Manage local authority inspection (e.g. OSHA, Insurance etc.) and drive safety culture through training and awareness across the site.
  • Coaches team and others on all aspects of NPI / EPD / TT / Validation / Projects ensuring open communications, sharing successes and repeatable mistakes, across functions / sites to encourage Continuous Improvement.
  • Influences MS&T and project team members to develop a business case, relevant success criteria and take ownership for delivery.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree Educated Science or Engineering, with minimum of 8 + years of experience in pharmaceutical field.
  • Multi-year Pharmaceutical Technical Operations Experience.
  • Experienced in Pharmaceutical Product lifecycle management.
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement Concepts and approaches.
  • Experience within technical operations, Engineering and/or manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment requirements & legislation.
  • Proven experience of project management.
  • Demonstrated change management capabilities.
  • Experience Leading teams, meaningful conversations, performance development.
  • Technical leadership experience.
  • Excellent and proven leadership skills with technical acumen to deliver and drive complex technical, Capex and supporting facility projects.
  • Comfortable communicating in any medium and to any size audience and level in an inspiring and credible way.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Project Management strategy, Expertise in project management in all NI, EPD project management involving several technologies.
  • Validation expertise & experience (Process, Cleaning).
  • Process development, for new and existing products.
  • Process troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and root cause analysis to identify and deliver corrective and preventive actions.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading Technical Transfers at site level including transfer of new products from PD into Operations, validation, facility improvements and qualification.
  • Basic understanding of commercial supply requirements within the Global veterinary pharmaceutical market.
  • Understanding of Veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturing and associated regulations.
