Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing firm in Newry to assist them with the recruitment of a Maintenance Engineer. Since their inception, they have gone from a small local manufacturer to a household name within the FMCG sector.
Your Responsibilities as a Maintenance Engineer:
- Uphold exemplary Health & Safety, quality and housekeeping standards, and report any shortfalls immediately.
- Perform fault diagnosis to PLC level (Allen-Bradley & Siemens).
- Execute preventative maintenance according to schedule, logging both planned tasks and breakdown interventions; develop comprehensive PM instructions and maintain critical spares lists.
- Troubleshoot and rectify electrical and mechanical failures on plant machinery, analysing all potential root causes, evaluating options, and implementing effective solutions.
- Conduct root-cause analyses and apply learnings to drive ongoing improvements.
- Keep electrical schematics and technical documentation fully current.
- Manage the procurement, installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment in coordination with the Projects Department.
- Liaise with production and maintenance teams to resolve breakdowns, determine priority actions and ensure prompt, efficient repair.
- Utilise systems and data interrogation tools to spot trends and identify opportunities for continuous enhancement.
As a Maintenance Engineer, ideally you will have:
- A trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical.
- At least five years' experience in an electrical role within a comparable manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to fault-find back to PLCs and, preferably, experience in modifying inputs, outputs and parameter settings.
