Ashton Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer on behalf of our client, an award-winning facilities management and building services contractor operating across the UK and Ireland. With strong foundations in construction, the business now delivers energy solutions, property maintenance, and large-scale infrastructure projects across residential, commercial and public sector environments. The Role

Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing HSEQ systems across the organisation. This is a varied, hands-on position involving both site-based and office-based responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HSEQ systems
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of health and safety documentation
  • Support the reporting, investigation and follow-up of incidents, near misses and non-conformances
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and assist with RAMS preparation and review
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety standards across projects
  • Support internal audits and ISO management systems
  • Coordinate and track health and safety training and competency requirements
  • Work closely with operational teams to promote safe systems of work
  • Contribute to health and safety initiatives and campaigns across the business
  • Provide general support to ensure the effective running of the HSEQ function

Essential Criteria

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, engineering or similar
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work in construction environments
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance processes
  • Experience supporting or working with ISO systems
  • Good knowledge of current health and safety legislation
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Full UK driving licence
