Our client, a residential home based in the Newry area, Co Down is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Cook to join their warm and welcoming residential care home. If you have a passion for preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals and enjoy making a positive difference to people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

You will be responsible for preparing fresh, balanced meals for our residents while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and safety. You'll work closely with the management team to ensure individual dietary requirements, allergies, and personal preferences are always catered for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious, appetising meals and snacks.
  • Plan varied menus that meet residents' nutritional needs.
  • Cater for special diets, allergies, and cultural preferences.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Monitor food stock, place orders, and minimise waste.
  • Work within allocated budgets while maintaining quality.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Cook (care home, school, catering, or similar environment preferred).
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above desirable).
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • A caring, compassionate approach and excellent teamwork.
  • Reliability and flexibility.
