Reporting to: Group Head of HR

As HR Officer, you will be responsible for working proactively as part of the HR Team, providing operational support across a broad generalist HR remit. This includes attendance management, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, wellbeing initiatives and payroll preparation. You will ensure operations run smoothly, aligning with company policies and procedures and play a strategic role in ensuring a positive workplace environment while supporting the overall business objectives.

You will act as a first point of contact dealing with a wide range of employee queries and will also update and maintain HR systems and information to ensure accurate reporting. This role will require a well-organised individual who can work flexibly and collaboratively in a professional manner to contribute to the provision and development of a broad-ranging generalist HR service.

What we will ask of you:

  • Act as the point of contact for employees, offering advice and guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Provide relevant and professional advice and support to line managers on company policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
  • Promote and manage employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive work culture and boost morale.
  • Assist in managing employee benefits programs, review costing and prepare information for HR Manager.
  • Assist in developing, updating and implementing HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are clearly communicated.
  • Support recruitment campaigns and onboarding activities.
  • Oversee application of absence management processes and procedures and provide advice and guidance to both managers and employees.
  • Preparing contracts, HR documentation and correspondence.
  • Maintaining HR systems, electronic personnel files and data integrity.
  • Compile HR data, reports, and key metrics for management.
  • Support payroll processing by ensuring accurate and timely data entry and benefits administration.
  • Lead or assist with employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes ensuring proper HR policy application.
  • Support performance review and probationary processes.
  • Assist in identifying skills gaps and arranging training and development programs to support employee growth.
  • Support learning, development, and wider HR projects as required.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyse trends to reduce turnover rates and improve employee satisfaction.
  • All other reasonable duties requested by line manager.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • 3rd Level qualification in relevant field.
  • Min 2 years experience in a HR Generalist role, with demonstrated experience of HR policies, employment law and best practice.
  • Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Accuracy in handling employee records, timekeeping and compliance documentations.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address employee issues and HR challenges.
  • Meticulous in managing employee data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Takes initiative to lead HR projects and collaborate with other departments to achieve business objectives.
  • Act with integrity, ensuring compliance with legislation and maintaining confidentiality.

Desirable:

  • L3 or above CIPD or relevant qualification.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment.
  • Full driving licence with access to own transport.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday.
