Client: Our client is a well-respected Property Services Contractor that have been operating for approximately 50 years. They specialise in property alterations and modifications, damage restoration and maintenance projects. They work with Social and Private Housing clients, Property Management Companies, Care Homes, Schools, Councils and Commercial Buildings.
Overview of Role: The Estimator will take the lead on estimating, playing a key role in supporting the commercial and operational teams by preparing accurate cost estimates for both tenders and live projects. This role will involve tender pricing, cost analysis, supplier and subcontractor engagement, risk assessment, forecasting, and contributing to project profitability throughout delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation of tender submissions and competitive cost estimates Completion of quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations Conducting project risk assessments and value engineering exercises Monitoring project costs against budgets Managing variations, re-measurements, and change orders Supporting forecasting and commercial reporting Maintaining historical cost and benchmarking data Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors Ensuring compliance with company procedures, contracts, and industry standards The Ideal Person: Essential Criteria: Relevant qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or a related discipline 3+ years' experience in a similar role Proven experience preparing estimates and tender submissions within construction, facilities management or a related sector Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery Knowledge and understanding of sub-contractor management Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Experience operating within a fast-paced construction industry Desirable Criteria: Experience of NEC suite of contracts Experience of Public sector and housing contracts Skills / Competencies: Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines Enthusiastic and result driven with excellent attention to detail Strong planning and organisation skills with good problem-solving skills IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages For further information on this vacancy, or any other Built Environment job in Belfast or wider Northern Ireland, please apply via the link below or contact Robert Apps for a confidential discussion Skills: Estimator Estimating Commercial Maintenance Social Housing Benefits: DOE + excellent benefits package
