Apex Housing Association is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join its Corporate Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering appropriate Health and Safety support, advice, and process compliance to employees working within supported living and care settings.
The role involves providing consistent, impartial, and practical advice to managers and employees across multiple teams and locations. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing health and safety advice and support to managers and employees across the organisation
- Completing and reviewing risk assessments, identifying hazards, and recommending appropriate controls
- Conducting workplace inspections and ensuring policies and procedures are implemented consistently
- Investigating incidents and accidents, gathering evidence, and ensuring corrective actions are completed
- Delivering health and safety induction and refresher training to employees
- Supporting the development of health and safety policies, procedures, and operational guidance
- Coordinating employee insurance claims and liaising with claims representatives and regulatory bodies
- Maintaining accurate records and producing evidence-based reports, statistics, and KPI information for management
- Supporting Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensuring agreed actions are followed through
- Identifying and implementing practical improvements to health and safety processes across the organisation
Essential criteria for applicants include:
- A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
- At least one year’s experience within a dedicated health and safety role
- Experience of advising and supporting line managers on complex health and safety matters
- Strong written, verbal, and IT skills
- A full current driving licence and access to a car
This role offers a full-time equivalent salary of £39,862 - £42,839, pro rata (£31,890 - £34,271 for 29.6 hours per week), a four-day working week, hybrid working after the initial training period, flexible start and finish times, and various benefits including a pension scheme, annual leave, enhanced sick pay, and support for further education.
