VANRATH are excited to be working closely to support with the role of a Groundsperson/Gardener/Greenskeeper for a well-established client within the local authority. This is initially a 6 month assignment, with possible extension.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping duties of Golf Courses, Cemeteries, Parks, Playing Fields, Landscaped areas and Open Spaces in accordance with Company Guidelines and standards.
- Supervision of other staff as appropriate to scale, including deputising for the Chargehand as required.
- Answering Customer enquiries and delivery of information as required (e.g. opening/closing times, directions).
- Safe, effective and appropriate use and daily maintenance of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery in line with Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Mobile grass cutting operations.
- Soil cultivation, fertilizing, site preparation and construction labouring.
- Horticultural operations such as the planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and bulbs as directed.
- Driving large agricultural tractors and articulated vehicles (e.g. van and trailer) as required.
- Hedge-cutting and trimming operations, clearing leaves and litter.
- Simple pruning to trees, shrubs and perennials and handling and application of chemical sprays as directed.
- Maintaining all records relevant to the post and undertaking all duties in accordance with all Company Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Ideal Candidate
- Two years' employment experience in a horticulture and grounds maintenance environment in at least one of the following areas: Sports Pitch Maintenance (grass), Cemetery Maintenance, Golf course Maintenance, Horticultural Maintenance (Floral).
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Grounds Maintenance.
- Awareness of Health & Safety issues.
- Be physically fit and capable of carrying out a wide range of manual tasks across any Company controlled site.
- Hold a full (i.e. not provisional) current UK driving licence and access to a car or have access to a means of transport which would enable the applicant to carry out the duties of the post.
- Basic AccessNI clearance will be needed.
Desirable Criteria
- Chemical Handling and Application certificates PA1 and PA6A.
- NPTC Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent.
Remuneration
Circa £27,186 plus pension & holiday pay.
