Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our Belfast client who are currently recruiting for a full time and permanent Legal Bookkeeper. Working closely with the Partners of the firm, you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of a busy solicitor's firm's finance department. Applicants are preferred to have worked in a legal setting but not essential as other bookkeepers will be considered - the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of invoicing, finance, book-keeping.
Duties:
- Ensuring all finance records are up to date & accurate on the firm's finance system.
- Reconciling bank statements.
- Accurate and timely processing and recording of incoming and outgoing payments.
- Receiving customer payments in person and over the telephone.
- Liaising with suppliers and payment of supplier invoices.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns via legal accounts software.
- Checking & posting bills & invoices.
- Liaising with the firm's accountant to assist in their preparation of statutory returns.
Criteria:
- Previous experience within a bookkeeping role is essential.
- Good grasp of basic accounting standards and financial processes.
- Good communicator with the ability to work well in a team.
- Competent on Microsoft Office Suite.
