How to prepare for a job interview at IrishJobs

Know Your Java Inside Out

Make sure you brush up on your Java skills before the interview. Be prepared to discuss your experience with backend systems, APIs, and microservices. They’ll likely ask you to solve coding problems or explain your thought process, so practice coding challenges and be ready to showcase your knowledge.

Familiarise Yourself with Their Tech Stack

Since they’re working with cutting-edge technologies, it’s a good idea to research the specific tools and frameworks they use. If you have experience with AWS, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines, be ready to talk about how you've used them in past projects. This shows you’re not just a Java expert but also adaptable to their environment.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

They’ll want to know how you work within a team and handle challenges. Think of examples from your past experiences that demonstrate your problem-solving skills, teamwork, and ability to mentor others. Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers clearly.

Ask Insightful Questions

At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask questions! Inquire about their development processes, team culture, or growth opportunities. This not only shows your interest in the role but also helps you determine if the company is the right fit for you.
