Job summary:

  • Work either individually or as part of a team in refuse collection, street cleansing, household recycling centres, public conveniences.
  • Be responsible for the care and maintenance of all tools and equipment allocated in respect of the duties to be carried out.
  • Assist with the promotion of good working relationships between the Council, customers and members of the public.
  • Assist with any promotional activities designed to encourage householders/commercial premises to recycle, including personal contact, leaflet drops, delivery of bins, attachment of bin stickers and survey work.
  • Advise the public on recycling issues.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety instructions and guidelines.
  • Carry out duties in all weather conditions.

A reserve list may be established in order to fill future permanent and temporary posts that may arise for another similar vacancy within the following 18 months. Should a similar post become available within this time period, the post may be offered to those candidates on the reserve list, in order of merit, without the requirement for a further interview. The post may be offered on a full-time, part-time, permanent, temporary or fixed-term basis.
