Due to continual growth, Fox Electrical Contractors Ltd. have a new opportunity available for a permanent, full-time Estimator/Bidder. The role requires a candidate who will be responsible for:

  • Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labour and equipment
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent relations with both builders, professional teams and directly with end user clients
  • Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified timeframe and maintaining a cost database
  • Assessing the risk levels associated with a project
  • Preparing and submitting quotations and details of costs for work to be done
  • Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of buyers
  • Monitoring the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure it stays within the estimated costs
  • Liaising with Client and Principal contractor at design and progress meetings

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • 3 years minimum experience in a similar role
  • Estimating knowledge and pricing, prepare and submit competitive tender packages with values ranging from our small works department to £5m+
  • Interpreting drawings and specifications, undertaking material take-offs and ordering of materials
  • Competent with computer software to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Access and PowerPoint, AutoCAD, any estimating software
  • Able to manage a wide range of projects, including small works, new build and refurbishments
  • Able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
  • Dedicated to maintaining the highest quality standards
  • A good communicator with an organised and methodical approach to completion of projects
  • Commercially aware with a good grasp of operating under different forms of contracts
  • Full driving licence
