We are hiring for our client, a leading engineering manufacturer, who are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead their design and development function. This Mechanical Engineering Manager role will take ownership of a high-performing team, driving the delivery of complex engineering projects from concept through to production. The successful Mechanical Engineering Manager will play a key role in shaping engineering strategy, improving processes, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant products within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role:
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team across multiple projects
- Oversee full product lifecycle - design, validation, and release to production
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget
- Act as technical authority, approving designs and engineering documentation
- Drive design reviews, verification, and validation processes
- Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are optimised (DFMA)
- Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work cross-functionally with electrical, software, sales, and aftersales teams
- Lead engineering change processes and promote standardisation
- Develop team capability through performance management and mentoring
The Person:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong background in heavy equipment, vehicle systems, or machinery design
- 7+ years' leadership experience within an engineering environment
- Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo or similar)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, hydraulics, and assemblies
- Experience managing projects across full product lifecycle
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Commercially aware with a strong problem-solving mindset
