Reporting to the Business Line Director, you will be responsible for leading a team of service and commissioning engineers in providing a first-class installation and commissioning service to our customers and dealers. The Installation & Commissioning Manager will oversee the installation and commissioning phases of the full portfolio of projects, providing expert knowledge and support to the installation, project management and wider operational teams, monitoring progress and reporting on project progress.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider team to develop and implement the installation & commissioning strategy for all regions, ensuring that all installations are effectively planned in line with internal operational and customer capacities to enable projects to be delivered in line with contractual obligations, customer schedule expectations, internal budgets and relevant quality standards. The focus of the role is creating, improving, and maintaining industry best practices across the installation & commissioning phases of our projects, developing and mentoring our teams, and improving our practices to provide a service that exceeds our customers' schedules and quality standards.
What you'll do:
- Assess the current state of both the installation & commissioning phases of project delivery and identify the gaps between current practice and best practice.
- Implement changes to current practice to close gaps towards best practice.
- Manage and mentor the installation team to ensure a people-centric, positive, supportive, and empowering team culture.
- Further develop a pathway towards improvement and development of the team, including the creation of training and personal development pathways.
- Provide advice and expertise to the team where required.
- Ensure all team members are clear on their roles and responsibilities within the team.
- Ensure any sub-contractors used for site activities are assessed for adequate competence and training.
- Identify and implement appropriate data-gathering practices for monitoring, controlling, and reporting installation & commissioning performance.
- Create a KPI dashboard that demonstrates performance and identifies risks of non-achievement.
- Support the pricing and project management teams in estimating installation & commissioning timelines and schedules.
- Drive schedule rigour across the installation & commissioning phase.
- Ensure that resources are managed, and schedules planned efficiently and within project budgets.
- Maintain current working knowledge of planning best practices.
What you'll bring:
- 3rd Level educated and/or equivalent experience in an Engineering environment.
- Effective leadership in both strategic and tactical decision making.
- Strong practical engineering skills and experience.
- Previous experience in an installation and commissioning position.
- Experience of working in a customer-facing environment.
- Experience working on multiple customer projects under tight deadlines.
- Proven knowledge in plant optimisation, commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Detailed knowledge of Washing and/or Recycling equipment.
- Proven abilities in problem-solving.
- Strong planning and execution skills.
- Hold a valid clean driving license and valid passport, with willingness to travel internationally.
