Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Health & Safety professional to join a well-established HSE team within a fast-paced production environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of health and safety initiatives across site operations, ensuring compliance with legislation while promoting a proactive and positive safety culture.
You will work closely with operational teams and management, supporting continuous improvement activities, conducting audits and risk assessments, and assisting with incident investigations and training initiatives across the business.
In your new role:
- Update and conduct site risk assessments across operational areas
- Carry out regular internal Health & Safety audits and inspections
- Assist with Health & Safety inductions and training for employees
- Support incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Maintain electronic and paper-based H&S documentation and records
- Collaborate with departmental managers to implement and improve H&S processes
- Monitor compliance across site activities and identify opportunities for improvement
- Assist in the preparation of safety procedures, manuals, and guidance documents
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and help drive a positive safety culture across the site
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree in Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- 1-2 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing or industry, although candidates with greater experience are also encouraged to apply
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
- IT proficiency across Microsoft Office and other management systems
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- IOSH membership or working towards chartership
- Manual Handling Instructor qualification or other training certifications
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing or production environment
- Experience supporting behavioural safety or continuous improvement initiatives
