An exciting opportunity has arisen with our busy Construction client in the Co Tyrone area for an experienced Solicitor professional to join a leading construction business. This role will provide legal and contractual support to the legal and pre-construction commercial teams, focusing primarily on non-contentious construction matters. The successful candidate will review and negotiate building contracts, identify contractual risks and opportunities, and provide practical legal advice to ensure contracts align with the company's commercial objectives and risk management requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate building contracts, commercial agreements and associated legal documents.
- Provide legal advice to support business objectives while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
- Manage contract negotiations with clients from tender stage through to completion.
- Review tender documentation, identifying contractual risks and advising internal stakeholders.
- Negotiate and agree Letters of Intent, Pre-Construction Services Agreements and Main Contracts.
- Prepare contract summaries for project delivery teams, highlighting key obligations, deadlines and contractual requirements.
- Review and negotiate consultant appointments, specialist subcontract agreements and warranties where required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, legal representatives and external advisors.
- Support the wider commercial and legal teams with contractual matters as required.
About You
You will be an organised and commercially minded legal professional with strong negotiation skills and a practical approach to construction contracts.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years' post-qualification experience within construction law.
- Strong knowledge of JCT Design & Build contracts and other standard forms of contract.
- Experience with collateral warranties, novation agreements, bonds and parent company guarantees.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of relevant construction legislation and regulations.
- Ability to provide practical commercial advice and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
- Degree in Law or qualified Solicitor with relevant construction law experience.
