Your new company is a leading food manufacturing organisation in the Cookstown area seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join its Sustainability team. The business is committed to maintaining the highest standards of environmental compliance across its operations and continues to invest in improving environmental performance, regulatory adherence, and site sustainability. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to long-term environmental improvement within a large and well-structured manufacturing environment.
Your new role as Environmental Coordinator involves ensuring full environmental compliance across the site while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. You will develop and maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, manage internal audits and environmental complaints, and support the creation and upkeep of SOPs. Responsibilities include coordinating PPC permit requirements, liaising with pollution inspectors, preparing statutory reports, and leading quarterly environmental compliance meetings. The role also involves managing water abstraction licences, trade effluent consents, waste compliance, and nuisance issues such as odour and noise. You will complete weekly environmental walkarounds, oversee the Site Protection and Monitoring Programme, and support additional duties as required across the Sustainability function.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Proven experience and working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments and levels
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- High attention to detail and strong proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word
- Eligibility to work in the UK and be within reasonable commuting distance to Cookstown (no sponsorship available)
