We are currently looking for a Biomedical Scientist to join the Western Health and Social Care Trust in the Cellular Pathology Department at Altnagelvin. They require a locum Biomedical Scientist who has extensive experience in sample dissection and microtomy.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in a laboratory.
  • Extensive experience in sample dissection and microtomy.
  • Must be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist AND have completed IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in Cellular Pathology AND have at least 1 year's post HCPC registration experience in that Cellular Pathology.
  • OR Have been employed as a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in 3 of the last 6 years, working in Cellular Pathology.
  • Applicant must have maintained HCPC registration and appear on the register.

What you’ll do as a Biomedical Scientist:

The post-holder will work with the Clinical Lead and BMS Service Manager and Laboratory team to ensure the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient laboratory service in Cellular Pathology which will meet the standards of UKAS accreditation. The Cellular Pathology service provides Histopathology, Diagnostic Cytology, Andrology and mortuary services in the WHSCT.
