Location: Belfast (Hybrid - 3 days onsite, including Tuesdays)

We're seeking a commercially aware and analytically driven Trading Analyst to join a rapidly expanding organisation in the energy sector. This Front Office position combines data interpretation with financial decision-making, giving you direct exposure to trading strategy and portfolio optimisation. The role sits at the intersection of data analysis and trading, where you'll convert complex data sets into practical insights, contribute to algorithmic trading approaches, and support revenue generation in a fast-moving market environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with automated trading systems to deliver real-time insights and assist with portfolio optimisation
  • Analyse market trends and data to uncover trading opportunities and improve short-term power trading performance
  • Prepare and deliver reports on trading activity, market developments, and revenue improvement opportunities
  • Turn complex analytical outputs into clear, commercially relevant insights for a range of stakeholders
  • Work closely with data and engineering teams to enhance trading algorithms and modelling approaches
  • Track portfolio performance and take proactive steps to improve outcomes
  • Assist in managing collateral requirements across trading operations
  • Evaluate market conditions and share key findings with the wider trading team
  • Support the accurate and timely execution of daily trading activities

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or Data Analytics
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • At least 3 years experience in the GB energy market
  • Hands-on experience with short-term power trading in Great Britain
  • Genuine interest in energy markets, trading, and revenue optimisation
  • Proven ability to create reports and communicate data-driven insights
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and commercial audiences
  • Highly motivated, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment

Desirable:

  • Experience working in data-led, product-focused, or engineering-driven teams
  • Exposure to Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)
  • Familiarity with trading platforms and analytical tools such as Python or SQL

Working Arrangements

Hybrid setup: at least 3 days per week in the Belfast office, with Tuesday as a core in-office day.
