Technical Director - Structural Engineering | Belfast Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with leading civil & structural engineering consultancy to support the appointment of a Technical Director - Structural Engineering for their Belfast office.
This is a senior leadership appointment, offering the opportunity to take full ownership of technical delivery, team leadership and client relationships across a diverse portfolio of structural engineering projects.
With a strong and secure pipeline of work across commercial, residential, education and public-sector schemes, the business has established an excellent reputation for delivering practical, high-quality and cost-effective structural solutions throughout Northern Ireland.
Your new role as Technical Director - Structural Engineering As Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of the structural engineering team while remaining closely involved in project delivery and client engagement.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced structural engineer who enjoys balancing technical authority with mentoring and strategic input.
Key responsibilities will include: Leading the structural engineering function, ensuring consistent technical excellence and quality assurance across all projects.
Managing, mentoring and developing a team of engineers and technicians, supporting their professional progression.
Providing senior-level technical input and oversight from concept design through to construction and completion.
Acting as a key client interface, building and maintaining long-term relationships and repeat business.
Supporting business development activities, including bid input, fee proposals and project acquisition.
Representing the business at senior client, design team and stakeholder meetings as a recognised technical authority.
What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate: Chartered Engineer status (IStruct E and/or ICE).
Extensive experience within a structural engineering consultancy environment.
Strong technical expertise across steel, concrete, timber and masonry design.
Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and developing engineers.
Excellent client-facing skills with a track record of building trusted, long-term relationships.
Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute positively to business growth and strategy.
