An opportunity has arisen for a Research and Policy Officer to join a leading support body within the educational sector based in Belfast. This is a Full-Time, Temporary Position initially for 6 months. Working hours: 36 hours. Typically, 9am-5pm. (Hybrid working) With a salary of £17.62 - £19.42 per hour (dependent on experience). Start date: Immediate.

Job Role: You will be responsible for the development, delivery, analysis and reporting of the research, policy and public affairs objectives set out in the company's strategy. This will include providing updates on education and related policy developments and legislation which may impact on the controlled sector as well as monitor, advise and report on the consultation processes within the organisation.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience within a similar role.
  • Experience of producing reports and undertaking research and policy projects.
  • IT proficient.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal - with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor policy, legislative and other developments relevant to the organisation and identify implications and advise SMT accordingly.
  • Contribute to and where required produce reports to government consultations for internal and external stakeholders, (e.g. press articles factsheets) to ensure effective communication of relevant policy related matters.
  • Work with SMT to develop and undertake research and policy projects to support the delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Advise and support the team, when necessary, in aiding their responding to education policy matters.
  • To develop bespoke surveys, to include preparation, analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with the organising events and dissemination activities.
  • Establish and maintain a stakeholder grid.
  • To undertake any other relevant and appropriate duties which may be reasonably allocated.
