VANRATH are delighted to be working with a respected public body seeking an experienced Policy Officer to join their Policy, Research & Engagement Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in law, policy, or research who has a genuine interest in equality, human rights, and social policy.

About you

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Law, Public Policy, Social Policy, Politics, Research or a related discipline
  • Experience or a strong interest in policy development, legal research or public policy
  • Knowledge of equality legislation, human rights or social policy
  • Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret legislation and complex policy documents
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn
  • Interest in EU law or post-Brexit equality issues (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Northern Ireland, Westminster or EU legislative processes (desirable)

What you'll do

  • Conduct research to support policy development and law reform initiatives
  • Draft policy papers, consultation responses and briefing documents
  • Prepare speaking notes and briefing materials for senior leadership
  • Monitor legislative, policy and regulatory developments
  • Analyse research findings and contribute to policy recommendations
  • Review reports and provide feedback on draft publications
  • Support the production of reports, guidance documents and public information materials
  • Contribute to research projects across equality and human rights issues
  • Monitor progress against strategic recommendations and action plans
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the delivery of organisational objectives
