Our client is a leading charitable organisation in Northern Ireland. Due to continued growth within the finance function, they are seeking a Payroll Officer to join their Belfast headquarters.

About the Job

Reporting to the Head of Finance Services, the Payroll Officer will take responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of payroll across 70+ salary service clients, while also supporting internal employee payroll operations. The successful candidate will maintain payroll records, ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, process year-end payroll activities, and respond to payroll-related queries from clients and external agencies. This role will involve close collaboration with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy and efficiency across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for 70+ salary service clients using Sage 50 Payroll
  • Maintain payroll records including tax codes, deductions, and pension information
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and complete RTI submissions
  • Respond to payroll queries from clients and external agencies
  • Support employee payroll processing alongside the Head of Finance Services
  • Liaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy
  • Assist with payroll-related projects and ad hoc duties
  • Process year-end payroll activities including P60s and P11Ds
  • Prepare staff cost analysis and payroll reporting information

Your Skills & Experience

  • Previous payroll experience with end-to-end payroll processing
  • Experience using Sage 50 Payroll
  • Strong understanding of HMRC regulations, RTI submissions, and payroll compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work accurately in a busy environment
  • Experience preparing payroll reports and reconciliations would be advantageous
