An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Solicitor to join a large and ambitious Belfast-based law firm as an Employment Partner. This role offers a rare opportunity to spearhead, shape and grow an employment practice within an already established and highly supportive wider firm structure. The platform, infrastructure and client base are already there; what our client is looking for is someone with the drive, vision and expertise to build and lead the department.

While this is very much a growth-focused and entrepreneurial opportunity, it comes with the backing of a substantial firm with an excellent reputation, strong internal referral network and collaborative leadership team. It’s an ideal move for someone who enjoys the idea of building something with autonomy, but without the risks often associated with a standalone startup environment.

The successful candidate will advise on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters including:

  • Employment Tribunal litigation
  • HR and workplace advisory matters
  • Disciplinary and grievance issues
  • Contracts, policies and procedures
  • Restructuring and redundancy projects
  • Senior exits and settlement agreements
  • Supporting corporate transactions from an employment perspective
  • Business development and strategic practice growth initiatives

This opportunity would particularly suit an ambitious senior solicitor, Legal Director or existing Partner looking for a genuine leadership role with the opportunity to make a significant impact.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Significant PQE within employment law
  • Strong technical expertise across contentious and non-contentious matters
  • A track record of developing client relationships and generating work
  • Commercial awareness and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Leadership qualities with the ambition to grow a team and practice area
  • Excellent communication and business development skills

What’s on Offer:

  • The opportunity to build and lead an employment practice
  • Strong support from an established and highly regarded wider firm
  • High degree of autonomy and strategic input
  • Clear progression and leadership opportunities
  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Equity potential for the right individual
  • Belfast-based role with high-quality client exposure

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an ambitious Employment Solicitor seeking a leadership position with real growth potential and the chance to shape the future direction of a developing practice area.
