Applicants may have a background in either Data or AI engineering, with a keen interest in driving value from data using modern AI and analytics techniques. As a Data/AI Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines, analytical solutions, and AI-enabled capabilities that support business decision-making and digital transformation. You will work closely with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to turn data into reliable, scalable, and impactful solutions.

  • Data Engineering & Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, datasets, and data models to support analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
  • AI & Advanced Analytics: Develop and implement AI/machine learning models where appropriate, supporting use cases such as prediction, classification, automation, and insight generation.
  • Generative AI and Context Engineering: Develop generative AI enabled solutions using large language models and context/prompt engineering.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Testing & Quality: Implement testing, validation, and monitoring to ensure data accuracy, model performance, and solution reliability.
  • Performance & Optimisation: Optimise data processing, storage, and model performance for scalability and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Produce clear technical documentation covering data models, pipelines, logic, and assumptions.
  • Governance & Security: Adhere to data governance, security, and privacy standards throughout the development lifecycle.

Connect to your skills and professional experience. Technical requirements: Proven experience as a Data Developer, Data Engineer, AI Engineer, or similar role. Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and/or similar languages. Experience building data pipelines and working with structured and unstructured data. Familiarity with Generative AI and/or machine learning frameworks (e.g. scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Langchain) is desirable. Experience with cloud data platforms, data warehouses, or big data technologies is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Experience working in Agile delivery environments. Appointment to this role is subject to the candidate being eligible for and successfully obtaining UK Security Check (SC) security clearance.
