Vickerstock are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading, international engineering consultancy to recruit a Civil / Maritime Engineer to join their long-standing maritime and coastal engineering team in Belfast. This role offers flexibility around level and would suit candidates ranging from Project Engineer through to Senior or Principal Engineer, depending on experience.

You will be involved in the delivery of a diverse portfolio of maritime and coastal infrastructure projects, including ports, harbours, marine terminals, and coastal defence schemes across the UK and Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop specialist expertise in maritime infrastructure within a collaborative, technically strong environment.

Your new role as Civil / Maritime Engineer:

  • As part of the maritime engineering team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of civil and marine infrastructure projects from concept through to construction.
  • Depending on experience, your responsibilities will include:
    • Supporting or leading the design of maritime and coastal infrastructure projects at concept, preliminary, and detailed design stages.
    • Producing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, and technical reports in line with relevant standards and Eurocodes.
    • Contributing to multidisciplinary project teams delivering ports, harbour, and coastal defence schemes.
    • Assisting with contract administration, technical queries, and construction-stage support.
    • Undertaking site inspections and structural condition assessments where required.
    • Supporting junior engineers and contributing to technical mentoring as experience allows.
    • Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

What you'll need to succeed as a Civil / Maritime Engineer:

  • A degree (BEng or MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering civil or infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to maritime, coastal, or heavy civil works.
  • Strong grounding in civil and structural engineering principles and design to Eurocodes.
  • Experience using industry-standard design and analysis software, alongside CAD tools.
  • Good technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Progression toward Chartered Engineer status (or already Chartered) would be advantageous.
  • Engineers at Senior or Principal level should also be comfortable providing technical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and supporting project delivery from a commercial and programme perspective.

What's in it for you?

  • In return, you'll receive a competitive package and the opportunity to work on technically challenging and nationally significant maritime projects, including:
    • Competitive salary, dependent on experience and level.
    • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
    • Exposure to a wide range of maritime, coastal, infrastructure, and regeneration projects.
    • Strong technical mentoring and structured career development pathways.
    • Support toward chartership and ongoing professional development.
    • A collaborative, multidisciplinary office environment with long-term project security.
