The purpose of the role is to:
- Facilitate the smooth running of the practice by working as part of our reception team and efficiently undertaking all required administrative tasks.
- Offer a professional and friendly service to our patients in person or on the telephone.
- Undertake additional clerical duties under the direction of the Senior Administrators.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explaining practice procedures and arrangements to patients
- Booking appointments and arranging clinics
- Processing repeat prescriptions and sick line requests in line with practice protocol
- Signposting patients to the most appropriate type of appointment and helping them to use our systems effectively
- Booking interpreters
- Covering lunch hour for emergencies
- Dealing with general enquiries and passing on more complex queries to appropriate parties
- Message taking
- Accurate record keeping and data entry
- Patient registration
- Processing incoming and outgoing patient charts
- Passing on results to patients
- Scanning all post onto patient records
- Making phone calls to hospitals and pharmacies
- Filing and photocopying
- Processing incoming and outgoing forms and requests for medical information
- Ensuring adequate supplies of prescriptions, sick lines and forms etc.
- Accepting payments for non-NHS services
- Attending office meetings and practice training
- Keeping abreast of changing practice protocols and procedures
- Opening up/locking up of premises and maintaining security
- General housekeeping duties

This information, along with any information relating to the Practice as a business or its employees, is to be held in the strictest confidence.
