We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our industry client based in Banbridge on a temporary basis for 3-6 months. This role involves working closely with the Head of Finance and supporting a team of established accountants. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Auditing current practices, ensuring processes are fit for purpose.
  • Measuring performance and making improvement recommendations.
  • Mentoring the team through a period of change and department optimisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Audit current accounting practices to ensure they are efficient and fit for purpose.
  • Analyse and measure current performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide recommendations for process optimisation and efficiency gains.
  • Act as a mentor to the accounting team, guiding them through changes and optimisation efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to implement strategic changes in the accounting department.
  • Education and preparation of the team on tax, specifically VAT, Corporate Tax & R&D.
  • Design and implementation of an internal control framework, including development of SOPs and process standardisation, strengthening control activities, review processes, and audit trails, ensuring documentation and controls are aligned to support external audit.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must be a qualified accountant.
  • Strong commercial background with substantial experience in process improvement and optimisation.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead teams through transitional periods.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
