We are looking for a motivated and reliable Assistant Manager to join our growing builders supplies business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in a builders merchants or similar trade supply environment who is looking to progress into a full management role within the next 2 years.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the branch, supporting across trade counter operations, sales, customer service, stock control, and yard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the daily running of the branch
- Assisting customers on the trade counter
- Handling sales enquiries and processing orders
- Supporting yard operations and stock management
- Delivering excellent customer service to trade and retail customers
- Assisting with staff supervision and operational organisation
- Helping maintain health & safety standards across the site
- Building strong relationships with customers and suppliers
Requirements
- Previous experience within a builders merchants, building supplies, or similar trade environment is essential
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Leadership potential with a desire to progress into management
- Forklift licence beneficial but not essential
