MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation in their search for a Monitoring Officer to join their Facilities team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in building maintenance or facilities management who enjoys a varied role combining inspections, compliance, maintenance and stakeholder engagement.

The Role:

  • Carrying out routine building inspections and statutory compliance checks across multiple sites
  • Testing and recording emergency lighting, fire alarms, intruder alarms, fire safety equipment, emergency exits and water hygiene systems
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records, certificates and building logbooks using electronic systems
  • Completing minor maintenance tasks identified during inspections
  • Recording utility meter readings and monitoring building services
  • Checking and resetting heating, ventilation, alarm and access control systems
  • Coordinating access for contractors and monitoring works completed on site
  • Supporting health and safety compliance through risk assessments and safe working practices
  • Providing guidance to building users on fire procedures, alarms and access control systems
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance programmes and condition surveys
  • Liaising with contractors, colleagues and emergency services where required
  • Travelling between sites across the borough as part of the role

The Person

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or equivalent, plus experience in a building maintenance or facilities environment OR Experience in a building maintenance or facilities environment
  • Experience carrying out building inspections and compliance monitoring
  • Experience maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records
  • Experience testing at least three of the following: Emergency lighting, Fire alarm systems, Intruder alarms, Fire-fighting equipment, Legionella/domestic hot water systems, Emergency door operation
  • Experience working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Good IT skills with experience using electronic record management systems
  • Full UK driving licence (or access to suitable transport to fulfil the duties of the role)
