Your new company is an established and growing organisation seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to join their busy finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to take ownership of key transactional processes while developing their career within a supportive environment.

Your new role involves reporting to the Head of Accounts, playing a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced environment, offering variety and responsibility across both credit control and general accounts duties.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Credit Control - managing the aged debt ledger, proactively chasing outstanding payments, resolving queries and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Sales Ledger - raising invoices and credit notes, allocating receipts, and supporting month-end close.
  • Purchase Ledger - processing supplier invoices, coding accurately and reconciling supplier statements.
  • Bank Reconciliations - completing daily reconciliations across multiple banks and currencies.
  • General Ledger - posting journals, processing expenses and supporting wider finance tasks.
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the Head of Accounts as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 2-3 years' experience in an accounts assistant, credit control or similar transactional finance role.
  • A proven ability to chase and recover debt professionally while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software, ideally Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Confident Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and pivot tables.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • The ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
