Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and rapidly growing Northern Ireland business operating across multiple locations throughout Ireland and the UK. This successful organisation continues to invest in its people and infrastructure and now requires an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team due to ongoing expansion. Your new role Reporting directly to the Company Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function and ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes across the business. Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Processing prepayments, accruals and journal entries
- Managing the purchase and sales ledger functions
- Reconciling company credit card transactions
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns for both Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland entities
- Bank reconciliations and cash management
- Processing payroll and supporting payroll administration
- Maintaining accurate financial records and filing systems
- Assisting with month-end reporting activities
- Providing general finance and administrative support as required
What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this position, you will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience within a busy finance environment
- Strong bookkeeping and transactional accounting experience
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Experience preparing reconciliations and VAT returns
- The ability to manage workloads and meet reporting deadlines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts, Sage Payroll and Microsoft Excel
- A positive, proactive and adaptable approach to work
