Job Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) oversees the provision of Business Analysis as part of a wider Enterprise Data Platform team supporting a portfolio of projects. We are seeking a seasoned BA professional with a wealth of data transformation experience. You’ll possess a well-rounded toolkit, robust delivery discipline and strong interpersonal skills. In addition, we will value applications from candidates with a working knowledge of our specific context such as our products: insurance, protection, annuities, bonds and home finance.
What you'll do
- Work closely with business SMEs to understand how and where data is stored on business systems, supporting modelling and data transformation to meet various use cases.
- Assist with the definition of an Enterprise Data Model to meet the needs of the business to create a single source of secure, accessible and maintainable data.
- Create and maintain a clear data catalog to assist business and data teams in finding the appropriate data for analytical and business use.
- Maintain clear data lineage to track data and transformations across systems.
- Produce high-quality business analysis artefacts ranging from high level scope, data/process models to detailed requirements.
- Identify improvement or risk mitigation opportunities and communicate to the business beneficiary for prioritisation and potential sponsorship.
- Elicit, analyse and synthesise stakeholder perspectives.
- Work in partnership with Delivery and the change sponsor to resolve conflicting stakeholder perspectives in line with project and wider corporate objectives.
- Act as an ambassador for change in all stakeholder interactions.
- Conduct exemplary contracting concerning own work: evaluating the need, agreeing an analysis approach, providing realistic estimates and identifying own needs including training, tooling, information access and Subject Matter Expert access.
- Provide transparency regarding progress, maintain own milestone plan managing stakeholder expectations and maintaining delivery commitments.
- Produce and maintain traceability from business need to benefit realisation as standard on all change initiatives covering both IT and business activities.
- Identify and escalate trace anomalies (insufficient activity to deliver business need or activity with no trace to business need).
- Champion the customer (or solution consumer) in every context and create feedback loops for continual improvements.
Knowledge / Experience / Skills
- Essential experience working as a BA in large data programmes, product teams or in an SME capacity.
- Strong experience with data modelling, transformations and ETL processes.
- Experience in delivering BA support to business change programmes in the financial services domain.
- Experience in Data Warehousing/Lakehouse.
- Understanding of data protection regulations and data programme requirements to enable adherence with regulations (e.g. GDPR).
- A broad understanding of LifeCo reporting requirements i.e. IFRS and Solvency II.
- Experience in appropriately tracking delivery and supporting teams to overcome challenges/issues to ensure outcomes are delivered on time.
- Analysts must possess knowledge in Data Visualization.
- Previous experience in working in Product teams using Agile frameworks.
- Previous experience in Wealth, Retirements, Annuities or Protection.
- Ability to use tools such as JIRA/Confluence.
- Professional Business Analysis certifications (IIBA, BCS).
