Job Purpose
An opportunity has become available for a Qualified Actuary to join our BPA team. This would suit a newly qualified Actuary who has BPA experience.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for reviewing and approving deferred member option calculations.
- Maintaining and developing internal models to support deferred member option calculations.
- Checking and responding to internal and external technical queries with existing schemes and their advisors.
- Supporting business development and proposition teams to continually improve offering in relation to deferred member options.
- Providing direction and guidance to a team to ensure all actuarial principles are understood.
- Collaborative working across Canada Life and third-party administrator to drive forward new processes and ensure efficient systems and process are in place.
- Ensure decisions taken with Customer focus and building relationships across the industry.
- Adopt and consistently act in line with our Blueprint (behaviours and strategic drivers).
Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes and the legislative requirements of pension schemes.
- Comprehensive understanding of the UK regulatory environment.
- Able to build relationships and gain trust and respect at all levels with strong leadership skills.
- Demonstrates personal drive, energy, persistence and self‑motivation and awareness of the part played in the wider business.
- Strong communication skills (able to communicate technical and complex issues both verbally and in writing to senior audiences, including non‑actuaries).
- Ability to apply actuarial techniques to business problems and to see wider implications.
