Start your career in a role that helps real businesses change how they work and sets you up with skills that last. At IRIS Accountancy, we build software that accountancy practices rely on every single day. Right now, thousands of customers are moving from older desktop systems to modern cloud solutions and they need people who can guide them through that change clearly, calmly, and confidently. As an Implementation Consultant Associate, you’ll be one of those people.
This is an entry-level, hands-on role where you’ll learn how customers use software, how data moves between systems, and how to support people through important transitions. You don’t need previous experience in implementation or accountancy - we’ll teach you everything step by step.
Why This Role Matters
You’ll join our Professional Services team, which sits between our customers, our software, and the wider IRIS business. When a customer buys or upgrades IRIS software, Professional Services helps them:
- move their existing data safely
- understand how the new system works
- feel confident using it day to day
If this goes well, customers save time, reduce stress, and get real value from their software. If it doesn’t, everything becomes harder. Your role exists to make sure it goes well.
You won’t be selling software or fixing technical faults. Instead, you’ll be helping customers understand what’s happening, guiding them through each step, and making sure nothing important gets missed.
Why This Role Is a Brilliant Place to Start
This role is designed to teach you how a professional software business works. You’ll gain:
- Experience working with real customers and live projects
- Exposure to cloud technology and data migration
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Confidence working with systems, processes, and stakeholders
You’ll also build accountancy software knowledge - a valuable skillset that’s in demand across IRIS and the wider industry. With major migration programmes running over the next two years, this is a rare chance to be involved in work that is meaningful, visible, and genuinely important to the future of the business.
About the Team You’ll Join
You’ll be part of a close-knit Professional Services team of around 10 people, including Implementation Consultants, Technical Consultants, and Training Consultants. The team works collaboratively - no one succeeds alone. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions, learn from others, and build your confidence over time. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, not failures.
What You’ll Be Doing
Day to day, you’ll:
- Help customers move from desktop accountancy software to cloud-based systems
- Prepare and check customer data so it’s ready to move safely
- Support migration and implementation projects alongside experienced consultants
- Show customers how to use their new software in a clear, supportive way
- Answer questions and explain next steps so customers feel reassured
- Work closely with colleagues across Implementation, Technical Consulting, Training, and Support
- Learn how accountancy practices work and how IRIS software supports them
You’ll always be supported. At first, you’ll observe, assist, and learn - then gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence grows.
What We’re Looking For
This role is about potential, attitude, and building a career in accountancy software - but an accountancy background is essential. We’re looking for someone who has studied Accountancy and wants to apply that knowledge in a practical, customer-facing role within a software business.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Have a degree or qualification in Accountancy (essential)
- Are interested in how accountancy practices operate and how software supports their day-to-day work
- Enjoy learning new systems, processes, and tools
- Like helping people understand information clearly and step by step
- Are organised, methodical, and pay close attention to detail
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and conversation
- Are comfortable taking responsibility and learning on the job
- Stay calm and positive when working through change
- Want to build a long-term career in accountancy software, implementation, or professional services
You do not need previous implementation experience, and you do not need a technical or software development background. Experience using accountancy software or working in an accountancy practice is helpful, but not required. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
What You’ll Gain
You’ll receive:
- Structured onboarding and product training
- Day-to-day support from experienced consultants
- Hands-on learning with real customer projects
- Clear feedback and guidance as you develop
As you grow, this role can lead into:
- Implementation Consultant roles
- Technical or Data Migration positions
- Project Coordination or Project Management
- Training or Customer Enablement roles
- Other opportunities across IRIS that value strong product and customer knowledge
Many long-term careers at IRIS begin in roles like this.
